YouTube to MP3
Converter

Drop in a link. YTMP3Music lifts the audio out of the video, hands you an MP3 you can keep, and stays out of the way. No sign-up, no installer, no daily cap.

Paste a YouTube link to start

Long youtube.com/watch links, short youtu.be links, Shorts and YouTube Music tracks all work.

The whole process

Three steps, about a minute

There is no queue to join and no settings screen to get lost in. Copy, paste, save.

STEP 01

Grab the link

On YouTube, tap Share and copy — or lift the address straight out of the browser bar. Both the long watch?v= form and the short youtu.be form are fine.

STEP 02

Drop it in the box

Paste it into the field at the top of this page. The moment a valid video ID is recognised the lookup starts on its own — you don't have to press anything twice.

STEP 03

Save the MP3

Choose the bitrate you want and hit download. Desktop browsers drop it in your Downloads folder; iPhone routes it through Files, Android straight into Downloads.

What you get

Built around one job

Getting you the audio, with as little standing between you and the file as possible.

One clean encode, not a copy of a copy

We take the best audio stream YouTube serves for that video and encode it once, directly to MP3. Fewer generations means fewer artefacts on cymbals, breath and reverb tails — the details that give cheap converters away the second you put headphones on.

Nothing to install

No desktop app, no browser extension, no "helper" that quietly keeps running after you're done. It is a web page and it stays one.

No account, ever

No sign-up wall, no email box, no free trial with a countdown. Close the tab and nothing follows you around afterwards.

The file is yours

A plain MP3 saved to your device, like any other download. Play it in the car, load it into a DJ set, drop it on an SD card, keep it offline forever.

Long recordings welcome

Podcast episodes, two-hour DJ sets, lecture captures, full album uploads. The tool isn't tuned only for three-minute singles.

One site, every screen

No stripped-down mobile version and no "open in our app" interstitial. The same page reflows from a 360-pixel phone to a 27-inch monitor.

Quality

Pick a bitrate that fits the job

Higher isn't automatically better — it's bigger. Here is what each setting actually costs you and what it's good for.

Approximate file size for a four-minute stereo track.
BitrateSize / 4 minWhere it shines
320 kbps ~9.4 MB Headphones, car systems and anything you expect to listen to more than once.
256 kbps sweet spot ~7.5 MB Near-indistinguishable from 320 for most ears and gear, at a fifth less storage.
192 kbps ~5.6 MB Big playlists on a phone that is already complaining about free space.
128 kbps ~3.8 MB Speech: interviews, podcasts, audiobooks, lecture recordings, language practice.

There is no such thing as an MP3 above 320 kbps. That is the ceiling the format itself defines. Any site advertising "512 kbps MP3" or "MP3 in 1080p" is selling you a larger file, not better sound — and a larger file made from the same source has nothing extra to put in it.

Compatibility

Whatever you're holding, it works

The converter needs a browser and a network connection — that's the whole requirement list. On iOS 13 and later, Safari saves the file through the Files app: choose On My iPhone › Downloads if you want it easy to find again later.

A bit of theory, if you're curious

What actually happens when a video becomes an MP3

A YouTube video isn't one file. It is a container holding at least two separate streams — pictures and sound — that your browser stitches back together while you watch. Converting to MP3 means ignoring the picture stream entirely and keeping the sound.

That is why it finishes so quickly. There are no frames to re-render and nothing to resize. The audio stream is fetched, decoded, and written back out as MP3 at whatever bitrate you asked for. On a typical music video the whole round trip is over before you have finished reading this paragraph.

Why the file comes out so much smaller

A four-minute music video might weigh 40 MB. The MP3 you get back is closer to 9 MB at the top setting and under 4 MB at the bottom. Most of that difference is simply the video track you never wanted.

The rest comes from how MP3 compresses. The format leans on psychoacoustics — the fact that a loud sound masks a quieter one sitting near it in pitch and time, so the quieter one can be discarded without you noticing. Push the bitrate low enough and you start to hear where the discarding happened: cymbals lose their shimmer, reverb tails turn grainy, and sibilants develop a faintly watery edge. At 256 and 320 kbps, most people on most equipment cannot pick it out of a lineup.

Two things that matter more than the bitrate

The source. No converter can add detail the upload never had. A 2009 clip recorded off a camcorder will still sound like a 2009 clip recorded off a camcorder at 320 kbps — just in a bigger file. Where a track exists as an official upload on an artist's channel or on YouTube Music, start there instead of a re-upload.

Not converting twice. Every MP3 encode throws information away for good. Running a file you already converted through another encoder stacks those losses on top of each other. Keep one good copy rather than a chain of increasingly tired ones.

Staying on the right side of the line

Audio you made, audio you own, recordings in the public domain and anything released under a permissive licence such as Creative Commons are all straightforward. A commercial release you hold no rights to is not — and that is true whatever tool does the converting. YouTube's own Terms of Service also speak to downloading.

YTMP3Music is a general-purpose utility and what it is pointed at is the user's decision. Our Terms of Use set out the full position, and rights holders will find the takedown route on the copyright page.

FAQ

Questions people actually ask

Short answers, no marketing.

01

Will the MP3 sound as good as the video did?

Close — and at 320 kbps close enough that most listeners cannot tell in a blind comparison. What no converter can do is beat the source: if the upload itself is muddy, the MP3 will be a faithful copy of something muddy. Pick the highest bitrate on offer when the recording deserves it, and drop to 128 for speech where nobody will notice.
02

Do I need to install anything?

No. There is no desktop app, no browser extension and no separate download manager step. Everything happens in the page you are reading right now. If another converter tells you a YouTube link needs an installer before it can be processed, close the tab — that is not a technical requirement, it is a delivery mechanism for something else.
03

Where does the file end up on my phone?

On Android it lands in Downloads and most music players pick it up on their next scan. On iPhone and iPad, Safari hands it to the Files app — choose On My iPhone › Downloads so it stays on the device and is easy to find later. Desktop browsers use whichever download folder you have configured.
04

Why was my link turned away?

The box only accepts addresses containing a real eleven-character video ID. Channel pages, search-result URLs, playlist-only links and links that got truncated when copied all fail that check. Open the individual video, then copy the address — or use YouTube's Share button, which always produces a clean youtu.be link.
05

Can I convert a whole playlist in one go?

Not in a single action. A playlist URL points at a collection rather than one video, so there is no single audio stream to pull from it. Open the tracks you want individually and run them one after another — the field clears itself between jobs, so it is a paste and a tap each time.
06

Do you keep a copy of what I convert?

There is no sign-in, so there is no account for a history to attach itself to. YTMP3Music does not build a public library of converted tracks and nothing you paste is listed anywhere for other people to browse. The privacy policy spells out exactly what is and isn't handled along the way.
07

Is converting YouTube videos legal?

It depends entirely on what you convert. Your own uploads, public-domain recordings and anything under a permissive licence are fine. Commercial music you hold no rights to is not, and no converter changes that — YouTube's Terms of Service also address downloading directly. Use your judgement; the Terms of Use cover the rest.
08

Is there a cap on how many I can do?

No counter, no daily allowance and no "upgrade for more". Convert one track or forty. The only practical limit is that jobs run one at a time, so a long recording occupies the box until it has finished.

Got a link on your clipboard?

That is genuinely the only thing you need. Paste it in and the MP3 is a tap away.
